Janek leads CAF’s consultancy offering, working with major companies who want to embed social purpose across their business.
Janek began his career in educational social projects in West Africa and Central and South America. After returning to the UK he worked as a social impact consultant, advising charities how to measure their impact with rigour and accountability.
After moving to CAF, Janek identified the critical need to shift companies’ thinking to go beyond measuring numbers and start understanding the meaningful changes that occur. Two things started to happen: clients began embedding impact as a core component of their strategies; and this focus enabled them to deliver long-term value on their bold social purpose ambitions.
The way CAF approaches this is to get the whole business on board through collaborative impact workshops. These bring together senior leaders from key parts of the business, building consensus and establishing shared objectives through a common language. The other crucial step to make the strategy a success is to bring the outside world in – ensuring the business defines its purpose in a way that feels authentic to its external stakeholders.
