Serge Papin was born in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie in Vendée (Atlantic coast) in 1955 and is a french entrepreneur. Between 2005 and 2018, he is the chief executive of the cooperative Système U, sixth largest food distributor in France. He wrote several books such as Consommer Moins, Consommer Mieux, (Consume less, consume better), co-written with Jean-Marie Pelt in 2009, Pour un nouveau pacte alimentaire (For an new food pact) in 2012. He recently published Du panier à l’assiette (From the basket to the plate) co-written with the food critic Périco Légasse. He is at the origin of the manifesto « Osons Demain » gathering a great number of companies wishing to be involved in the ecological transition.
